When will the Assyrians learn?

We can see today many news papers, Assyrian that is, cheering and celebrating that the 25th June as the independent day. This was the day the Kurdish parliament changed their constitution and confirmed the Assyrians, no matter church name, as one. Before, our people were considered as Assyrians, Chaldean or Syriacs.

This has been considered as an historical day where most of the representatives praised the Kurdish government and Sergis Aghajan. What the representatives and most of Assyrians haven’t understood is that the constitution of the Kurdish parliament doesn’t have any effect whatsoever when it comes to the Iraq’s sovereign rule.

This is typically a game for the gallery when the Kurdish rulers have lost power due to the results from the last election to the Sunnis. As they are no longer the majority and they don’t what to compromise what they used to have, the Kurdish government fools the Assyrians once again by fake and illegitimate promises. When we see the Assyrians flags from the media, you have to see that the clips comes from the pro-Kurdish channel Ishtar TV.

We Assyrians have to see beyond this and look straight. This cannot be accepted and the fight must go on. If we want our country back, we want it as independent.

Khaya umtanaya Atouraya!
